There are many ways to get involved. You could sign up as a volunteer, organize your own sponsorship Group of 5, or donate to one of the local sponsorship organizations.

 Skills-based Contributions: In addition, we are looking for the following items, resources, or services: 

  • sustainable & scalable solutions for healthcare (counseling) 
  • housing (HIGH PRIORITY, for example WKIRS is in need)
  • education (ESL & further)
  • employment
  • community connections

International Aid Agencies and Efforts

There are a number of international organizations that are taking donations to help with the current refugee crisis, if you want to support the international effort.

United Nations Refugee Agency – The UNHCR coordinates UN refugee responses, including support for host countries providing assistance for Syrian refugees.
International Organization for Migration – The IOM is an intergovernmental organization which provides services and support to governments and migrants.
Unicef Canada – The United Nations Children’s Fund is a child-focused humanitarian organization operating in 192 countries, including Syria.
Doctors Without Borders – Doctors Without Borders, or Médecins Sans Frontières, operates medical facilities inside Syria and supports more than 100 clinics, health posts and field hospitals in the country.
Oxfam – Oxfam is an international confederation of 17 organizations working around the world to find solutions to poverty and support human rights.
World Food Programme – The World Food Programme is the food assistance branch of the United Nations.
Migrant Offshore Aid – MOA consists of humanitarians, security professionals, medical staff and maritime officers working to prevent further refugee crisis at sea.
Amnesty International – Amnesty International is a non-governmental organization with a focus on human rights.
Canadian Red Cross – Part of the international humanitarian organization Red Cross/Red Crescent, the Canadian Red Cross is helping to support the efforts of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent in Syria.
World Vision Canada – The non-profit charitable organization provides food, water and shelter to more than 500,000 Syrian refugees in the Middle East.
